MY ROLE: UX DESIGN & UI DESIGN

TrustedID needed a UX and UI design of a new product called Credit Score Tracker.

The Challenge

Credit Score Tracker is a web and mobile app product that offers users credit score tracking. In addition, user has access to tools showing what credit score factors impact user’s score, credit score calculator that helps user understand what events may cause credit score to change, and credit score comparison tools showing how user’s score compares to others in the nation, state and within their age group.

I was asked to design a web and mobile product experience that would be simple, intuitive, and modern.

Web Portal Design Approach

After evaluating all the features, I’ve proposed a web portal design based on the factors that deliver the most value to the customer. In case of this product, monthly credit score updates offer the best value of all features.

Credit Score Tracker

At the top of the dashboard page, I’ve designed a module that demonstrates user’s credit score on the left, and on the right – a credit score tracker timeline showing a history of user’s last seven credit scores.

Down the page, I’ve added three tabs for secondary features -  Credit Score Factors, Calculator, and Comparison Chart.

Credit Score Factors

Credit Score Factors feature automatically pulls positive and negative factors that influence user’s credit score. In this layout, I’ve created two columns – Positive Factors & Negative Factors. In each column user sees relevant factors per their credit report.

Credit Score Calculator

Credit Score Calculator gives user an opportunity to estimate how credit score may change if certain events were to take place.  I’ve listed different events in a form of a sentence that begins with “I want to….”. User selects "what if" scenarios and click on "Calculate Score" button to see an estimated credit score. The calculation result shows Current Credit Score and Estimated Score.

Credit Score Comparison

Credit Score Comparison is a fun tool that shows how user compares to others in the nation, state and within their age group. I’ve used a pie chart approach for visual representation of each group. The piece of the pie chart that user falls under is visually pulled out of the circle. Below each pie chart, I’ve added a table with credit score ranges and the percentage of users who fall under each score group. I used “You” icon next to the score range group that user falls under.

Resource Center

Providing user with information to learn more about their credit score was extremely important. I've proposed to included two modules at the bottom of the page. Credit 101 is a module that has links to credit related educational articles. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) module gives user an easy access to the answers of the top asked questions.

Mobile App Design Approach

After defining information architecture and design for the web portal, I began the design of the supporting mobile application. My main goal designing the mobile app was to keep all the features available to user in the web experience, even though the available real estate on the mobile screen is much smaller. I took same approach of prioritizing the most value driven features. In my proposed design, the main Home page has 70% of the screen allocated to the Credit Score Tracker feature, because it gets updated on monthly basis. Other 30% of the screen is taken by tab style links taking users to the Credit Score Factors, Calculator, and Score Comparison section of the application. In the main bottom navigation, I’ve added a Home, Credit 101, FAQs, Settings and Log Out buttons for user to navigate around the application.
